“Lika survived, she is already home… she keeps asking about Bacho; she doesn’t know that her beloved husband is no longer alive, she has no access to the internet,” — a relative says.

During the car accident that occurred in Abasha, 18-year-old Lika Kuchukhidze was injured — the girl for whose survival the whole of Georgia prayed — and by God’s grace, she survived. She was discharged from the clinic today and is now with her parents. In two weeks, Lika will need spinal surgery, and she is currently being prepared for this procedure.

We remind the public that the severe accident occurred on October 24, on the Samtredia–Abasha road, claiming the life of 19-year-old Bacho Lasareishvili, Lika’s husband and only son of his mother. Sadly, the young man passed away before reaching the clinic. He had injuries incompatible with life.

The beautiful couple had recently married. Their family was built on love; their wedding took place this summer, and photos of this beautiful day were shared on social networks. They were supposed to live a happy life, but the terrible accident that happened that day destroyed everything. As it turns out, the day after the tragedy, Bacho Lasareishvili was supposed to be the best man at his friend’s wedding, which is why the car was decorated for the ceremony.

Along with the couple, Bacho’s uncle — who had raised him and who was fasting that day — was also injured. He, too, was hospitalized with various injuries, though he was discharged earlier. People continue to grieve for Bacho, especially in his hometown of Abasha. Since October 24, daily prayer services for health have been held in the chapel where the beloved couple often visited.

Deacon Saba Zarqua speaks about Lika’s condition:

“The Lord heard our prayers, and today Lika was discharged from the clinic. Fortunately, Lika survived. She is better now, she is currently at home, but she will soon undergo major spinal surgery, and we are certain she will fully recover.

She continues treatment at home. Lika constantly asks about Bacho — she still doesn’t know that her beloved husband is no longer alive. She was told he is also receiving treatment. For now, she cannot be burdened with such heavy emotions.

After her spinal surgery and once she returns home, she will be told the tragic news. At this stage, before the operation, even the doctor forbade the family to tell her — she must not be stressed. I want to thank everyone who stood by us these days, who prayed and asked God for Lika’s recovery. Everything was made possible through people’s prayers — the Lord heard them.

These collective prayers brought this beautiful girl back to her feet. Prayers for her continue in our chapel. She will learn about Bacho after the surgery, and she will have to face this harsh reality. For now, she has no access to the internet or phone. Her injuries have improved over these days. Our hearts ache that their wonderful love story ended so tragically. You cannot imagine how much they loved each other. They would come to our chapel, meet there, and everyone admired this lovely couple.

They were so beautiful together… Sadly, this is the harsh reality now. You know that Lika was pregnant — unfortunately, it was not possible to preserve the pregnancy. We are deeply saddened that Bacho is no longer with us. He was an exceptionally good young man. Everyone loved him, he gave tremendous love to others, and his life turned out to be so short. It hurts us terribly,” — says Deacon Saba Zarqua.
